The Worker, Homeownership, and Business Assistance Act of 2009 has extended the tax credit of up to $8,000 for qualified first-time home buyers purchasing a principal residence. It also authorized a tax credit of up to $6,500 for qualified repeat home buyers. The $8,000 credit was scheduled to lapse on Dec. 1 but will now be in effect through the end of June. Homebuyers must sign a contract before April 30 and close by June 30. The income limits were also raised: Single buyers can now earn up to $125,000 and still get the full credit while a married couple can earn $225,000.
Gov Jay Nixon & State Treasurer Clint Zweifel kick off the Home Ownership Purchase Enhancement (HOPE) Program. The HOPE program will provide incentives of up to $1,750 to encourage Missourians to purchase homes.
